This is an exciting time for us, taking the expertise we have from many years of semantic web research, tool development and standards leadership and applying it more broadly.

We are particularly interested in applications of linked data which are of public benefit. The moves by UK Government, both national and local, to open up government data and make it available in linked data form are great news. Government is uniquely able to provide reference identifiers for the things it regulates (schools, roads, companies etc) and by providing those as stable URIs it can help seed a data web around those concepts. These core URI sets, along with associated reference data and statistics, provide a fantastic foundation for a knowledge economy around such information.
