Our Training Courses

Core Linked Data Courses

Introduction to Publishing Linked Data

For teams needing a detailed technical introduction we offer this two-day training course. This covers similar material to our other popular course – Introduction to Linked Data, but goes into more depth and practical examples. The two-day course is targeted on data specialists and developers, the one-day version is more suitable for managers, consultants and evangelists.

Introduction to Linked Data

For teams needing a less detailed technical introduction we offer this one-day course: Introduction to Linked Data. This covers similar material to our most popular course – Introduction to Publishing Linked Data, but does not go into as much depth. While the two-day course is targeted on data specialists and developers, the one-day version is more suitable for managers, consultants and evangelists.

Querying Linked Data Using SPARQL

The two-day Querying Linked Data using SPARQL workshop covers using SPARQL (Linked Data and RDF Query Language) for query and update, and how to access data through the SPARQL protocol and SPARQL results formats.

Data Standards and Data Modelling Courses

Modelling Workshop

For building skills in designing data we offer a two-day modelling and development workshop. This is intended for teams who have already been through the two-day introductory course and will help people who want to get started on modelling and designing linked data by providing an opportunity of doing the modelling on your own data. The cost of the course includes time for us to become familiar with your data, and for our trainers to show how the principles learned in the first course can be directly applied to your data and support you in developing a data design that is built on the needs of your users.

Introduction to the Reference Data Management (Registry)

This half-day course provides a review of the features and facilities provided by the Reference Data Manager / UKGovLD Registry, together with high level training on its operation.

Using the Reference Data Management (Registry)

This course provides a more detailed dive into the Reference Data Manager / UKGovLD Registry operation over a full day. It explains how to load new items, how to update existing registers and code lists, and how to query and retrieve data from the platform. It also covers how to add new users to the system and manage administrative functions. It also covers how codelists and reference data can be designed. This course compliments and extends the Introduction course.

Introduction to common vocabularies and data standards

For building data standards skills, exploring common vocabularies and standards such as PROV, Data Cube, ORG, FOAF, QUDT, SKOS and DCAT our two-day Introduction to common vocabularies and data standards course will help you understand how these standards should be used. After a general introduction to the principles of linked data modelling, attendees are guided through the process of developing a model for a familiar domain. Using this example attendees learn how to apply common modelling patterns, ontology components and standard tools that they can reuse in their own work.

Bespoke Training and Mentoring

We can adapt our core training offerings to meet your specific needs and put together courses on other topics.

We also offer follow up support packages to help your staff apply what they have learned.

Other Data Skills Courses
