Building Bilingual Water Quality Data Applications
Natural Resources Wales like many public sector organisations in Wales has the additional requirement of providing services bilingually. Often this is not delivered when applications are built directly on data or is achieved through separate stacks. Bathing Waters API
The Natural Resources Wales Bathing Water Quality Data service was developed with the specific needs of Wales and dual language capabilities built in. The NRW service and the data API all are able to respond to language requests supporting both NRW’s and other Wales user needs. We worked with NRW to design, build and run this service.

Bathing Waters
Natural Resource Wales (NRW) and the Environment Agency (EA) have a key roles ensure that bathing waters have good water quality in Wales and England respectively. Bathing Waters are designated beaches (or inland swimming spots) assessed by the EA and NRW in line with the relevant legislation and regulations. Water samples are taken at designated points weekly, during the bathing water season. In order to make the results of the Bathing Water Quality sampling available to the many individuals and organisations who make use of it, starting in 2010, we worked with EA and later NRW to design and build these services. We currently also run the service for NRW.

Bathing Water Widgets
We previously worked with the Environment Agency (EA) and subsequently National Resources Wales (NRW) to design and build services that help Local Authorities and other users add the bathing water data quickly to their websites and beach pubic display screens using a configurable widget. We also currently run the NRW bathing water data service.
