Brief Summary:
During 2023-25 we worked with AstraZeneca’s R&D reference data management team to develop a concept store from Epimorphics technology. Concept Store aimed to provide easy browsing, discovery, download and reuse of AZ’s curated controlled vocabularies. The aim was to open up access and promote reuse of this reference data across the organisation to facilitate data integration and associated benefits.
The project started as a proof of concept and was extended to MVP stage, with a product that AZ could host on their own infrastructure.
Our Concept Store allows users to search, browse and discover curated concepts in concept schemes based on the SKOS standard. It provides a Collection Builder to create collections of concepts from the schemes which can then be shared across the organisation and downloaded for use in information systems, surveys and reports. It includes an API for access to concept schemes, concepts and collections which can be used for URI resolution as well as for programmatic search and filtering.
Concept Store is based on Epimorphics technology including a resilient, cluster deployable triple store (podium), a reconfigurable API toolchain (sapi-nt) and a base level Concept Store application (Agora Concept Store). In addition we made changes to the base application to support AZ-specific needs, information model and curation process.
