Projects

Our work is varied and covers a range of sectors including the tech arena and service based projects. We help organisations connect data, making more effective use of your information through open, standards-based linked data tools and techniques.

Find out more about some of our projects with the Food Standards Agency and various environmental agencies, as well as with The National Archive, Local Government and the Cabinet Office.

  • Hydrology Data Explorer

This application provides access to Environment Agency open hydrology data, including river flows, river levels, rainfall, groundwater levels and water quality readings for stations throughout England. We designed, built and run the service for the Environment Agency.

  • Bathing Waters

Natural Resource Wales (NRW) and the Environment Agency (EA) have a key roles ensure that bathing waters have good water quality in Wales and England respectively. • Catchment Data API

We worked with the Environment Agency to initially design the underlying data model for this service that has evolved over a number of years

  • UK Tide Gauges

We previously worked with the Environment Agency to design and build a service that published data from the UK National Tide Gauge Network, owned and operated by the Environment Agency, on behalf of the UK Coastal Flood Forecasting service. It recorded tidal elevations at 44 locations around the UK coast.

  • Rainfall Data

We previously worked with the Environment Agency to design and build a service that published data from 1000 real time rain gauges which are connected by telemetry. Browse data from the network of tipping-gauge rainfall sensors, available as open linked-data via the Rainfall API.

  • Public Registers

We previously worked with the Environment Agency to design and build a service that published data that supported the initial publication of the Environment Agency public registers of information.

  • Historic Water Quality (WIMS) archive

We previously worked with the Environment Agency to design and build a service that published data from the Environment Agency’s National Water Quality Data Archive (WIMS)

  • Flood Widget

We previously worked with the Environment Agency to design and build a service that helped users access flood warning data via a simple configurable widget. This increased the reach of the data for the Environment Agency and supported greater investment into similar services.

  • Flood Monitoring (Warnings, Alerts & River Levels)

We previously worked with the Environment Agency to design and build a service that provided a range of live information related to flooding including alerts and warnings of current or impending floods, together with real time measurements of river levels and flows.

  • Bathing Water API Document

This document details a web API for access to the live publication of Bathing Water information published by the Environment Agency for bathing waters in England that are monitored in order to meet UK reporting obligations under the EU Bathing Water Directive.

  • Bathing Water Widgets

We previously worked with the Environment Agency (EA) and subsequently National Resources Wales (NRW) to design and build services that help Local Authorities and other users add the bathing water data quickly to their websites and beach pubic display screens using a configurable widget. We also currently run the NRW bathing water data service.

  • Bathing Water Explorer and Profiles

We previously worked with the Environment Agency to design and build an award winning service – the Bathing Water Data Explorer – an application designed to enable people to explore information about English and Welsh designated bathing waters that has been produced by the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales.
