  • Food Alerts Wrapper

    This is a Python wrapper for the FSA Food Alerts API. This project was undertaken as part of one of our intern projects in 2020, and created with the aim of making interactions with the API much simpler so developers can focus on processing and analysing the data it provides.

  • Regulated Products Register

    Certain food and feed products, called regulated products, require authorisation before they can be sold in the UK. For most regulated product types, once products or processes are authorised, they are listed in relevant legislation, which also sets out how they can be used. The register service provides a searchable tool for business and other food industry users to explore some detail about the authorisations. We designed, built and run the service as a data services delivery partner to the Food Standards Agency.

  • Hydrology Explorer

    This application provides access to Environment Agency open hydrology data, specifically river flows and groundwater readings for stations throughout England. We designed, built and run the service for the Environment Agency.

  • Sensor data & metadata standards review

    We provided consultancy expertise for the “Environmental sensor network data and metadata review and development” project, this report helps inform the way that UKCEH will take forward its plans around modelling, managing and describing its sensor data. The report contains a review of a number of technical specifications originating with the ISO, OGC and W3C standards bodies in the field of earth observations and sensor networks, with the aim of developing a data model appropriate for UKCEH sensor data.

  • Patents Linked Open Data

    The European Patent Office Linked Open European Patent Data Service publishes information about European patent applications using a technique known as Linked Data. This service supports a powerful web interface that can be used by developers to query patent data and retrieve it in a format of their choice. As well as information about patents, this system contains a Linked Data representation of the Cooperative Patent Classification (CPC) scheme. Working in partnership with service providers we helped to undertake data modelling, design and develop the service.

  • INSPIRE in RDF Project Deliverables

    We provided consultancy and expertise as input to the Are3na project activity to “Documentation and development of a methodology for INSPIRE in RDF”. INSPIRE was focusing on addressing the interoperability of geospatial data sets and services through the creation of data models and geospatial encodings mechanisms for the exchange of data. We helped produced a number of reports as formal techical input into the Are3na project.

  • MyRivers Android App

    As one of our student projects and later intern projects – The MyRivers app demonstrated how mobile device users can browse some of the Environment Agency open river data we helped to publish, and explores how investigators in the field can directly access water-quality data using their phone’s location services.

  • EA Bathing Water Tableau Demo

    This project was developed as a demonstrater exploring APIs using Tableau – it used Tableau Public as simple way to create publicly accessible interactive visualisations using the Bathing Water open data sets that were accessible via an open linked data API.

    We have worked with many organizations (large and small, including public, private and voluntary) helping to build capabilities in different aspects of linked data, and equip decision makers with the knowledge and skills that they need to plan and design linked data solutions.

  • EA Data Visualisation Demonstrator

    We designed, built and ran the flood monitoring API initially for the Environment Agency, The service allowed access to open data for rainfall, river and tide levels. Data was available from thousands of stations across the UK for the last month. This visualisation was built to demonstrate the open data available online to give an idea of its capabilities.

  • Data Cube ontology (W3C)

    We provided consultancy and expertise in the development of ontologies for representing data cubes (statistics, measurements, expenditures) and for representing organisations, that can then be built into international standards.

  • ORG ontology (W3C)

    We provided consultancy and expertise in the development of an ontology to enable publication of information on organisations and organisational structures including governmental organisations. It is intended to provide a generic, reusable core ontology that can be extended or specialised for use in particular situations.

  • Registry Core

    The Epimorphics Reference Data Management Platform (Registry) has, at its heart, an open source implementation of the Linked Data Registry specification (that we we helped to develop as a contribution to the UK Government Linked Data Working Group). This Registry core repository is the primary base for UKGovLD registry implementations and is maintained active codebase for the registry.

  • URI Patterns for Location

    We provided consultancy and expertise in the development of updated guidance to government and wider public sector in the use and design of URI sets that provide an opportunity to share common meaning and common identifiers to join-up data from many sources. This guidance focused on the special case of location data based URIs and formed contributions to the UK Government Linked Data Working Group.

    We worked with the BBC to enhance the coverage of major sporting events by introducing linked data. They have gone on to publish the structure that was developed, and use the ontology across the BBC to enhance the experience for website users.

  • Price Paid report builder

    The UK HPI aggregates Price Paid Data (PPD) to provide a transparent and unbiased view of the housing market. It is hugely influential. HM Treasury, the Bank of England, and a raft of other Government departments, rely on the data for policy decisions. This service presents unrestricted data in an easy-to-comprehend way. We worked with HMLR to design, build and run this service.

  • Standard Report Builder

    HM Land Registry publishes open data on prices paid for properties sold in England and Wales. For customers who want aggregated price data for statistical analysis, this standard reports application allows anyone to configure a report for various geographical areas in England and Wales. We worked with HMLR to design, build and run this service.

  • UK House Price Index

    Epimorphics supported Land Registry in building capability and supporting the publication of the UK House Price Index as open linked data. The Land Registry records the sale of residential and commercial properties and this data is made available to support many types of users including the public, companies and institutions.   • Bathing Waters API

    The Natural Resources Wales Bathing Water Quality Data service was developed with the specific needs of Wales and dual language capabilities built in. The NRW service and the data API all are able to respond to language requests supporting both NRW’s and other Wales user needs. We worked with NRW to design, build and run this service.

  • Bathing Waters

    One of Natural Resoure Wales (NRW) many roles is to ensure that bathing waters in Wales have good water quality. Bathing Waters are designated beaches (or inland swimming spots) assessed by the NRW in line with what was the European Bathing Water Directive. NRW samples water at designated points weekly, during the bathing water season. We worked with NRW to design, build and run this service. We previously worked with the Environment Agency to design, build and run their bathing water service.

  • UK Tide Gauges

    We previously worked with the Environment Agency to design and build a service that published data from the UK National Tide Gauge Network, owned and operated by the Environment Agency, on behalf of the UK Coastal Flood Forecasting service. It recorded tidal elevations at 44 locations around the UK coast.

    We previously worked with the Environment Agency to design and build a service that published data from 1000 real time rain gauges which are connected by telemetry. Browse data from the network of tipping-gauge rainfall sensors, available as open linked-data via the Rainfall API.

    We previously worked with the Environment Agency to design and build a service that helped users access flood warning data via a simple configurable widget. This increased the reach of the data for the Environment Agency and supported greater investment into similar services.

    This document details a web API for access to the live publication of Bathing Water information published by the Environment Agency for bathing waters in England that are monitored in order to meet UK reporting obligations under the EU Bathing Water Directive.

    We previously worked with the Environment Agency to design and build a service that helped Local Authorities and other users add the bathing water data quickly to their websites and beach screens using a configurable widget.

    We worked with the FSA to design, build and run a service to supports the Government’s drive for transparency and the Agency’s own core value of openness and transparency with a open data catalog and internal management tool.

  • Unified View Data Hub

    We worked with the FSA to design, build and run a service that focuses on integrating and improving internal data from multiple sources about food businesses and establishments. The Unified View programme is the set of services bringing the data back from local authorities to the Food Standards Agency. It gives a platform to integrate other datasets and give much more complete picture of the industry.

  • Food Alerts Editor

    One of the FSA’s key roles is responding to concerns about food safety. As part of the digital transformation program, one of the biggest projects was to streamline the food and allergy alerts (product recalls) that both manufacturers and consumers rely on. We worked with the FSA to design, build and run a service to supports that supports the publication process (reducing publication time) and providing quality structured data via ain API that is used by the FSA and food industry.

    We worked with the FSA to design a specification and implimentation to provide a standard method for generating reference numbers for a number of special cases within the FSA.

  • Food Types

    We worked with the FSA to design and build a demonstration implimentation of an open linked data version of the FoodEx2 standard. The Food Types registers provide a web-accessible copy of the FoodEx2 standardised food classification and description system from the European Food Standards Agency. Helping the FSA to code the data in their reporting data in URI form.
